In 2026, fiercely independent palaeontologist Danica Burke is hunting fossils in Madagascar when a lemur snatches her heirloom pendant. A violent storm erupts, lifting her into the air and casting her into the sea, where she is rescued by a man who seems to have stepped straight out of a Shakespearean play.
