After the Flood

This classic children’s story by Gene Stratton Porter is about a group of birds adventuring together after a great flood changes where they live.

Cardinal Grosbeak decides to tell the younger birds of his adventures as a young fledgling; the great flood was sudden and very muddy, and many birds were caught in it. Luckily the young Grosbeak was able to fly upriver, away from the worst parts of the deluge.

It was here that the young bird had his greatest adventure, seeing creatures thrive in the wetlands and meeting new friends, learning how to call and sing. Most importantly of all, Grosbeak discovers the power and spirit of Mother Nature in all her glory.
