After The War

After the War, is part two of the book, “Encountering the Veil”

WWIII began and ended quickly. At the beginning of our story, the waters in the US are contaminated and food is scarce. Most major cities were hit by nuclear missiles and turned to ash. Survivors  were forced to flee to Canada and South America, for food, water, and shelter. 

Brandon and his wife Brooks left their home in Adams, Massachusetts to go south. They found a military convoy escorting families to Argentina, were the food and water was plentiful. Taking what they could, they climbed into a military truck and started a two-month journey with many obstacles including looter, disease, and radioactivity. The military still had radio communication and would warn them of dangers ahead.

They settled west of Argentina, in the valley of Mendoza, at the foot of the Andes Mountains. The Argentinians welcomed them and gave land, cattle, and crops to start their colony. They had water from a nearby river and wood from the trees of the mountains. 

After four years word came that it was safe to return to the US, but unexpected mutation made some wish they had stayed.
