Publisher Description
Racing from the remote, war-scarred landscapes of the Middle East to the blood-soaked chaos of the U.S.-Mexico border, #1 New York Times bestselling author Tom Clancy delivers a heart-stopping thriller that is frighteningly close to reality.
Working behind the scenes for the CIA, ex-Navy SEAL Maxwell Moore arrives at a rendezvous to take charge of a high-ranking Taliban captive and barely escapes with his life. Undaunted, Moore is relentless in his quest to find the terrorist cell responsible, but what he discovers leads him to a much darker conspiracy in an unexpected part of the globe...
After years of planning, the Taliban have come to terms with a vicious Mexican drug cartel and agreed to supply them with opium. For the cartel, the deal means money, power, and ultimate control of the drug trade. But for the Taliban, it is a long awaited opportunity: to exploit the cartels and bring the fire of the jihad to the hearts of the infidels, striking against the very heart of America.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Narrator Steven Weber turns in an enthralling performance in this audio version of Clancy's latest novel of international conspiracies, violence, and red-blooded American daring-do. Max Moore is a former Navy Seal who uncovers a bizarre link between the deadly terrorists of the Middle East and the ruthless drug cartels of Mexico. Looking to thwart potential attacks against the United States, Max puts together a crack team of operatives to defeat the two organizations and save the day. Weber immerses himself in the authors' intricate world, perfectly capturing the novel's tone and pacing. Additionally, Weber's characterizations are spot on. His rendition of dialogue sounds natural, and he deftly handles various accents and pronunciations that span international borders. At more than 18 hours, this is a long listen, but thanks to Weber's narration, there's never a dull moment. A Putnam hardcover.

Against All Enemies
Not a bad book, but still not up to the old Clancy of "Clear and Present Danger" adventure. Seems like more of the voice of the guest writer with Tom Clancy sort of filling in the details. If that's what it takes to get more of my favorite author, then I am willing.
I do rate it as a 'definite buy' as the new character has enough edge to make him a great addition to the Clancy list of great characters. As a avid Clancy fan, I did miss the deep background development of characters Clancy has used in the past that made the reader really identify with the main characters in past books. I hope as future books are written, we will learn a bit more of the 'how and why' of the characters. I especially like the 'bridge' that unites the new and the former; I believe it will be a good formula for exciting reading! Thanks Tom and welcome back, I hope you're feeling much better!
Against All Enemies
Once again TC has written a book torn from the headlines before the headlings occur. These other reviews by mamby pamby do nothings that complain about racism and right wing ideals havent lifted a finger to help our society so they have a difficult time wrapping their pachoulie empregnated brains around TC's concepts. The charecters have honor and drive and self reliance.... concepts the left seems to revile. If you are a fan of TC then you'll love this book, you will read the free sample and the break a finger dowloading the whole book.
Classic Tom Clancy
A good read for Tom Clancy fans with the narrated events being very plausible with the events happening in today's world. For military fiction buffs, it doesn't get more real than this.
