In a citadel, behind great thick walls, sixteen year old Agata fears invasion by an ancient foe but the palace courtiers scoff at those fancies. One fateful night, her fears are realised when the Marauders  steal into to the walled city and unleash a merciless assault on the inhabitants. By some miracle of fate, Agata escapes into the unforgiving mountain wilderness but now her life hangs in the balance, for what does a sheltered young princess know about raw survival?

With danger lurking at every turn, Agata is forced to rely on her wits and courage to stay alive. She must adapt quickly for General Kazan, the ruthless leader of the Marauder army, has orders to eradicate the entire Bagrationi dynasty and he will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Agata must use every ounce of her strength and cunning to outwit him and evade his relentless pursuit.

As the fight for survival pushes her beyond her limits, she discovers within herself a will to live that she never knew existed.
