Publisher Description
Special Agents of the Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) have been on the front lines of securing diplomacy for over a century. From the Fall of Saigon to the U.S. embassy bombings in east Africa, and the Iranian Hostage Crisis to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, special agents of the DSS have relentlessly put their lives on the line to protect their fellow diplomats around the globe. Agents Unknown reveals the story of Cody Perron, a former Special Agent of the DSS, and his journey through the Middle East and Southeast Asia, negotiating international fugitive returns, interviewing ISIS hostages, and protecting the highest level U.S. government officials in some of the most volatile places in the world. Raw and unfiltered, Perron offers the perspective of a ground level agent revealing the unconventional duties and accomplishments as one of many “agents unknown.”

Insightful and often times intense
Cody takes us on an intense journey through his illustrious career in one of the most critical fields of government service. This memoir not only serves as an engaging narrative but also offers invaluable insights for aspiring DSS agents and anyone interested in the complexities of international security. A must read for folks looking to work in the foreign service.
Insightful and entertaining. Goes well with Cody’s supplemental materials.
I read Cody Perron’s Agents Unknown just before starting my career with DS, and his stories helped me visualize the outline of what a DS career could be. The situations Agent Perron was put in over the course of his tasking in the foreign service also lent more purpose to the extensive training we go through as agents; and helped me take the hardships more seriously than I might have otherwise. Pairing Agents Unknown together with Cody’s Youtube channel and his podcasts will prove invaluable to anyone joining DS, or to those eventually looking to join.
Great book!
By far one of my favorite reads. The author used a great writing style the made it easy to read and relatable to its audience. The market is flooded with books of FBI, DEA agents and special ops teams. This was the first about Diplomatic Security that wasn't 13 Hours but rather of a Diplomatic Security Agent. You'll be surprised with how much they really do and how unrecognized they are.
