He could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. He went to sleep with gum in his mouth and woke up with gum in his hair. When he got out of bed, he tripped over his skateboard and by mistake dropped his sweater in the sink while the water was running. He could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Nothing at all was right. Everything went wrong, right down to lima beans for supper and kissing on TV.
What do you do on a day like that? Well, you may think about going to Australia. You may also be glad to find that some days are like that for other people too.
Sometimes nothing beats a short dose of audio. Three recently released collections from HarperChildren's Audio just may fill the bill. Fans of Judith Viorst's picture book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day know that things look grim when Alexander wakes up with gum in his hair. Now listeners can relive Alexander's adventures and hear other selections including Rosie and Michael and The Tenth Good Thing About Barney, all found on Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good Very Bad Day and Other Stories and Poems by Judith Viorst, read by Blythe Danner.

This story is a reminder that not everything is going to be perfect as we want to be. And if certain things don’t go well as we hope, we shouldn’t be giving up hope. Just move on and wait for a new day to arrive. Having a bad day not only happens at school but it can happen at work. But again, just move forward and wait for a new day to arrive. So don’t give up and don’t give into despair.
