Alexandra in the Mirror

Alexandra in the Mirror is not a novella, nor is it a novel. It’s not a journal, but it’s not a confession, either. It’s something else. Das ganz andere.  

It aims to tell the fictional story of a naïve girl, with a good soul and a talent for photography, a girl whose family history, overcome with political circumstances that overpower everyone, keeps haunting her, not allowing her to live her life. 



The main character is trying to heal the scars left by a communist regime – barely mentioned in the story, but the ghost of which refuses to leave her alone. Alexandra is retrieving lost memories, but only as a means of self-knowledge. Hers is the story of an identity crisis generated by this invisible monster – political, but not only – trying to bury the self of an entire generation. It’s the story of the courage one must have to look oneself in the eye, from within and from without, after surviving a collective trauma taken personally by every victim: communism. However, this story is mostly about faith, hope and God.
