When Nova discovers that her offshore cash has been seized by the Feds and she's down to her last $30,000, she agrees to take her poker skills live in Sin City for a last-chance sponsorship win or go home. Readers who love Vegas or Texas Hold 'Em will revel in the richly detailed casino trappings and lengthy play-by-play of card hands. However, the label "romance" sits oddly on this poker tale. Nova trembles and Vesper kowtows before a dismaying and distracting array of men. Sparks do fly between the women eventually but the only convincing love that Nova and Vesper project is their unabashed yearning for cash.
