Erudite and intriguing
Much better than the TV series. Creates a whole new genre: historical romance fantasy.
Brilliant
I saw the tv show first, but the book is sensational. The banter, artistry, history, dynamics, and details are woven into a tapestry of pure magic. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book that I struggle to put down. I highly recommend. Also, it’s refreshing to have dynamic adult characters that are so complex and yet relatable.
Excellent
While some tropes are familiar… witches falling for wealthy and ancient vampires… the character development is well-done. The settings and details make it easy to picture in the minds-eye.
The idea and reality of love and acceptance still needing warriors and violence to defend it is nice to see. The idea that those who are capable of violence are not necessarily evil is good to see.
I was engrossed through the whole series and I appreciate it.
