Great book!!!
I had a great time reading this book. Switching from first person to third person narratives is hard for some writers, but Hendrix pulls it off really well. We experience the story just as Gideon sees it, but also gain insight into the depraved mind of a killer. It is exciting to watch Gideon and Jessica piece the mystery together as they race against the clock to stop the killer from striking again. There is no shortage of gripping drama especially as the book reaches its climax. Having lived in Georgia at one point, I also appreciated the author's thorough research and description of Savannah, Georgia. It made me feel like I was right there. I highly recommend this book to anyone.
Keeps you coming back for more!
I read this book faster than I have read anything all year. I wanted to keep going so I could find out what happened next. This novel kept me in suspense chapter after chapter. The author did a great job making the characters relatable and the antagonist of the story was realistically creepy (read this alone at night and you may find yourself glancing over your shoulder from time to time). The depth which the author gives his characters really delves into the struggle between good and evil within man’s nature, while at the same time showcasing just how deep true evil can ingrain itself when unrestrained. In addition to the complex characters, the author also made the cities in this story come alive. Having spent some time in the Low Country, I was pleased with the ease in which I was transported back to those locations to re-experience both the exquisite beauty and friendliness and the seedy underbelly of Savannah and Charleston. This is a great detective novel and I can’t wait to see what case Gideon picks up next.
Great Read!
This novel was outstanding! At times it was a tiny bit predictable, but I literally could not put it down, and I have since reread it to find deeper meaning behind some of the words. I can't wait to see more of Detective Gideon. The way that Mr. Hendrix illustrated his words helped me imagine the story as if it was a movie. Definitely a book worth reading!
