Publisher Description
"Alternities is the best parallel universe novel to come around in years and years. Michael P. Kube-McDowell creates a startlingly believable universe and takes us on a thrilling tour."—David Brin, author of The Postman and Startide Rising
"Engrossing…as gripping a page-turner as anything I've read since Seven Days in May…the work of a novelist who has reached the peak of his storytelling powers."—South Bend Tribune
No one knows what unwove time. Almost no one is allowed to know that it happened. Where yesterday there was a single reality called Home, there are now uncounted alternities, each seemingly on its own path to tomorrow. Only the impossible, fantastical maze that connects them offers any hope of divining
the new cosmos. But for a Guard runner like Rayne Wallace, the challenge is much more concrete: survive the maze, complete the assignment, and somehow return Home alive.

Quite Good
Second time I’ve read it, though the first time was many years ago. On a second read, at times it’s misogynistic and a little bit racist. Unclear why the character Endicott had to be written the way he was. There were other ways the author could’ve written him. And Endicott’s end was not satisfying.
Overall, thought provoking. But the way some things were tied up was not totally satisfying. Still overall a very good read.
