Lee’s Groove is Back In Spades
The title story “Ambient Conditions” is entirely satisfying. A great stand-alone story told from the point of view of a female
‘minor Talent’, and ‘Luck’, Kishara. Kishara comes to recognize her talent and navigate her skill to overcome expulsion from her native world, find a place for herself and rout the efforts of an evil-minded robber and would-be slaver, while recruiting a Scion of Korval, Can Ith yos'Phelium, and his “luck” to her side. Author Lee states she got her post-surgery-fiction-writing groove back by rewriting the series “cannon” short story “Preferred Seating” (told from Can Ith’s P.O.V.) into the title story “Ambient Conditions”. I can only agree: it’s back in spades. Cheers for team Lee & Miller! Fans of the series will appreciate the parallels of this ‘Luck’ team to the one in TRADER’S LEAP. Newcomers should like this short on its own.
