A thrilling return to the #1 New York Times bestselling urban fantasy series, continuing Rachel Morgan's story.
RACHEL MORGAN IS BACK--AND THE HOLLOWS WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.
What happens after you've saved the world? Well, if you're Rachel Mariana Morgan, witch-born demon, you quickly discover that something might have gone just a little bit wrong. That the very same acts you and your friends took to forge new powers may have released something bound by the old. With a rash of zombies, some strange new murders, and an exceedingly mysterious new demon in town, it will take everything Rachel has to counter this new threat to the world--and it may demand the sacrifice of what she holds most dear.
The enjoyable 15th installment to Harrison's the Hollows series picks up shortly after the events of 2014's The Witch with No Name as witch-born demon Rachel Mariana Morgan again confronts supernatural threats to her beloved Cincinnati. An unknown and terrifying creature is stalking both Rachel and her former enemy, elven Trent Kalamack, in their dreams, while in the waking world, Hodin, a mysterious new demon in town, offers Rachel an opportunity to fine-tune her magical abilities. Afraid to sleep, Rachel places her trust in Hodin to help her find a way to defeat a nightmarish foe she can't even touch. Harrison makes a skillful return to her urban fantasy world, recapturing her signature blend of magical mayhem and soap operatics, though the dwindling presence of Rachel's vampire partner, Ivy, suggests a shift in focus as the series evolves. Narrative momentum is disrupted by several lengthy scenes of Rachel exploring her magic with Hodin through elaborately described rituals and slogging metaphysical discussion, but the expansion of magic's possibilities in this universe could spell good things to come. Despite a detailed introductory preface, new readers will likely be lost in the sea of returning faces, but existing fans will be pleased by this promising continuation of the series.
Glad this series is back
I was both happy and very sad with the ending in the last book and I’m glad this series has made a resurgence and look forward to the next book in the series. Rachel’s stories are so fascinating and watching her grow as a person through each book has been wonderful.
Cannot get enough!
I love these characters! I hope Kim Harrison continues to write this series!
Rachel Morgan is back with Trent in this excellent story which I thought is well written! This has Landon going after Trent through Rachel but innocents are being hurt.
As the story continues they are trying to fixed up the church which had a few accidents and which Jenks now owns. But we have a new bunch of characters because demons are now in the world but along with zombies , the order, and a few surprises. Ivy and Nina are okay and Rachel is living on Kisten’s boat but is concerned about the cooler weather and Jenks. That will be resolved by him moving to Trent’s for the winter.
We have a new character who is Hodin who is a demon and there is a connection between him and Al. The mystery involves something or one trying to kill either Rachel or Trent and the whole auras are involved but you might want to stay awake for this character.
Al goes into seclusion because he was t trying to hurt people he cares about therefore Rachel will now have to look for help from an interesting source. Now let’s add in Zack who is the next in line to be the leader of the elves and one of my favorite characters, Bis. Bis will help Rachel in a way that is unexpected but note that what he does will not go unnoticed and people will look for a way to fix it.
I really hate giving away plot line and twists but this book is excellent! I give it more than five stars and look forward to reading the next one now that Rachel is back!
