I did not see the ilm, "Easy Rider", until it was shown on British TV in 1996.  However, the idea of riding a motorcycle across the USA had always appealed to me.  So in 1982 I saved up my British pounds and leave from my job in the scientific civil service and resolved to fulfil my ambition.  This is an account of that journey.
