Historical excellence
Wonderful history of the personalities who were tasked with fighting the global war and creating the machinery, material, and men/women to fight it. Churchill, who I had a high opinion, comes off as a foolish half witted warlord who had convinced himself of his own strategic genius. This book shows an entirely different picture and his quirks probably extended the war by a year. Of greater interest are the detailed portraits of Marshall, King, and Arnold and their POV on how the American war machine would be taken to the enemy. The footnotes and bibliography should be read as well since the primary source materials are unusually rare and not as well known as other historical WW2 writings.
