Publisher Description

Samantha Matthews turned her back on her wealthy family to focus on social work. To some, she’s the heart of kindness. To others, she’s caught up in a never-ending battle to make up for the harm her family—and their companies—inflict on the world. So finding Samantha at a charity bachelor auction is hardly surprising. Only she’s just bid on the wrong guy. Oops.

Samantha was supposed to bid on her brother’s bestie. But it’s nearly impossible to tell one stick-in-the-mud CEO from another, and somehow she’s managed to snag herself one dead-sexy Taylor Jennings. Only the completely insufferable billionaire cuts her off dismissively before informing her that sex is definitely off the table.

Now Samantha’s ready for some sweet payback. She’s got plans for Taylor, and all of them involve heat, sweat, and hammering…for Habitat for Humanity. Only Taylor isn’t quite what she expected. And Samantha’s about to get just what she paid for.

Interesting read!

Interesting read! Samantha has worked her entire adult life to give back to the community after the incident that happened with her family as a teenager. She feels that she owes the less fortunate everything and works to do so every spare second she has. In doing a favor for her friend, she accidentally bids on the wrong man and wins a date with Taylor, a wealth and arrogant billionaire, and decides in order to teach him a lesson she will take him to her volunteer spots in order to watch him squirm. However, the surprise is on Samantha when she finds out that Taylor previously did volunteer work himself, as he was previously less fortunate and has worked hard for everything he has. The bulk of this book was him trying to get her to give him a chance, and her having such a hard time with his wealth. Overall though, it was an enjoyable read and they got the HEA they both deserved.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

One first date - but better!

Characters are guarded but people oriented- how did you DO that and make it work! Great story!

Wonderful unexpected journey to love

Sam carries a lot of weight on her shoulders due to her parents’ negligent ways. She has worked hard in a new city to build a life she is proud of helping businesses rebuild to avoid being taken over. She ends up at a bachelor auction for her friend Izzy to rescue her brother from the auction block. When she wins her intended bachelor, well, she is shocked to learn she bid on the wrong man. Taylor hates these auctions but does believe in helping various charities. He is surprised by the woman that won him in the auction and the date she sets up surprises him even more. But he has the last laugh as he digs in and works which isn’t what Sam expects. Now, Taylor buys failing companies and sells the parts. Given that they are on opposite sides in the business world, do they have any chance at love? Sam doesn’t think she is worthy; can Taylor break down her walls? Sam and Taylor are a great match, they passion for what they do along with their philanthropic endeavors were a joy to experience. Sam is amazing so I was pushing for Taylor to break through and convince her love is possible. These two took me on a fabulous journey for love.
