Publisher Description
Is it even an engagement unless a dead body is involved?
It's been four months since Mary Tomlinson solved her first murder as well as entered into a passionate affair with her handsome, mysterious Bow Street inspector. Though she's enjoyed herself hugely, she wonders where the relationship is heading. Surely, she can't remain his mistress forever even if the bed sport is quite satisfying. There has to be… more to life.
Inspector Gabriel Bright is a man on a mission. Old enough to know what he wants from his existence, he's invited the widow to accompany him to a tea café in a relatively quiet section of London for the specific purpose of asking for her hand. However, during the course of uttering that all-important question, their romance is interrupted with the news of a murder just down the street.
Once more Mary and Bright are on the case, for apparently someone has killed a popular butcher's wife, but shortly into the investigation, they discover it's no ordinary homicide. The murderer has left a gristly calling card of sorts and it's connected to Bright's past. If the case isn't solved in time, it could have dire consequences for their brand-new engagement as well as terminate the romance that's barely put down roots.

Mystery
This is a delightful series that keeps one interested to the end. Another murder mystery to solve. A woman found dead in a butcher shop. A woman from Brights past. Will he be a potential suspect? Will he ever get the chance to propose to Mary? There is nothing finer than a murder mystery with some steamy passion in it. Well written and anxiously await the next book.

Exciting Story
It’s been four months since they met at a house party and solved their first mystery together. Since then, Mary Tomlinson and Gabriel Bright have been lovers. Their happily ever after is possible, but still a bit in the future. Their skill as partners in crime-solving is tested again in this story. Coming upon a crime scene near their luncheon stop, the two of them set to work. Will they be able to find the person who killed the butcher’s wife? There are several suspects and a number of clues. Their crime-fighting effort goes well, but their romance is strained. It is obvious they care for each other, but not so clear what their future holds. This is an exciting story with a gruesome crime, a scary villain, a few twists and turns, some danger, a developing love story. Mary and Gabriel are wonderful as partners, in crime and in romance. Their happily ever after is a bit closer; they are engaged now.
