This is a novel book. This etext was produced from The Counterfeit Man - More Science Fiction Stories by Alan E. Nourse published in 1963. Extensive research did not uncover any evidence that the U. S. copyright on this publication was renewed. The title is a play on 'An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure'. While the satirical nature of the story is obvious the Sci-Fi aspect may elude you. This story was published in 1963 and very accurately predicted the rise of the cults of specialization and testing that dominate medicine today. The exaggerations in the story are our reality.
