And the mountains echoed

Very skilled and talented author. The chapters do not always flow well so you may struggle to pick up the story from one to the next. I don’t understand why so many authors have to now interject homosexuality in their stories. 95 %+ of the world is heterosexual and it would have been a better book without it.

Disappointing!

I have read the author's precious two books, Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns, and enjoyed each immensely. This book does not live up to the depth of plot and character development of the others- not remotely close. There are different story lines going but are only partially developed and then either rushed through to an end or just abandoned. There was potential for development and it just wasn't realized.

My views

The book starts off very well. Towards the end I felt it was too melodramatic and predictable. Over all a good read but not of the standard of "the Kite runner".

And The Mountains Echoed

One of his best books yet. I love all the different characters and the way they all end up touching each others lives. Khaled is one of the best writers , I feel like I have been to Afhghanistan every time I read one of your books......

And the Mountains Echoed

After downloading the sample, I purchased this book the same day it was released in iBooks format. Although I'm still reading "A Thousand Splendid Suns," I forged headlong into Mountains Echoed, and what a ride!

I see why it took Hosseini a while to write this book. His words touched my soul so deeply that, at times, I had to put the book down in order to reflect on many of his passages of wisdom and insight. His characters were rich in presence; I could not stop reading!

This was a great read, even better than The Kite Runner. I highly recommend the purchase of this book, and eagerly await Hosseini's next masterpiece.

Not as good

This book is a good book but not as good as the previous two by the author.

A beautiful read

This is beautiful read, melancholy but makes you realize how transient and precious our lives and human connections are.

Beautiful and tragic

It is beautifully written. Carefully tells of challenges for the simple people. Important to know this even if fictional.

Emotionally gripping

I’ve read “Kite Runner” and “A Thousand Splendid Suns”. Compared to those two novels this one is more emotional.

A Beautiful Story, Beautifully Told

“The rope that pulls you from the flood can become a noose around your neck.”

A collection of nine short stories of sorts that all intertwine with the central story that starts off in the beginning. The writing is so beautiful and full of charm, sadness, and hope.
