Life in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas was traditionally one of moonshine stills and less than law abiding hill folks, the Wakefield Clan being no different. Except that they owned more than thirty miles of the range of mountains, with its many lakes, waterfalls, lush meadows and breathtaking wilderness. Life here was one of serenity, yet dangerous as they cooked the devils brew, but its how they made their living, all they had ever known,so, life continued.This was an acceptable way of life for the Wakefield family, had been for generations, and they were happy, at least all but one of them. Lincoln Wakefield knew there was something more to life than making whiskey, knew there had to be. The world was larger than just thirty miles of mountaintop, and he longed to see it, experience it firsthand. He hated the moonshine business, everything about it, and especially having to deliver and collect for the illegal drink. Yet he endured it until his sixteenth birthday, and one day during one of his deliveries, it became too much for him.Returning home after twenty-three years, he was a wanted man with the law not far behind him.
