Publisher Description
Angelo Amico was a significant organized crime boss in Rochester and western New York during the mid 20th century and after. One newspaper article described him as part of the "new leadership" among mobsters. In one of his trials he was indicted for extorting gambling revenue from sixteen different betting operations. Amico was part of a Mafia syndicate that included Greece, New York gangsters Rene Piccarreto and his son Loren. The Piccarretos managed extensive gambling concerns in the Monroe County area. Local 398 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters was also caught up in this crime activity.
