Sometimes the only answer is to just bang it out.
Like today, for example. I’m in actual hell at my sister’s over-the-top reality TV wedding and up until now, I’ve been able to handle it all. The horrible bridesmaids. My relentless mother. Even the awful eighties fashion to fit the retro theme. But when my sister nonchalantly mentioned that she never even wanted me at the wedding—the producers insisted—ouch doesn’t fully express how much it hurts.
So for the first time I don’t think. I just do. And as a shy paleontologist who plans everything, I probably should have taken a moment.
But here we are.
I’ve just asked the best man, who my sister absolutely loathes and who can’t stand her right back, if he’s up for a little naked revenge with me. The cameras are filming every horrifying second, and the whispers have begun. (Did I mention that the music happened to stop just as I asked him?)
But then his mouth quirks up, and he does the last thing I expect.

Interesting wild ride at the start of this series!
Interesting wild ride at the start of this series! Thea is a retired child actor turns paleontologist. She feels that she doesn’t fit in with her family as her sister has reveled in her acting career and made the jump from child actor to adult actor, with her mother’s full support. In an attempt to bring back her sister’s career, she is getting married and is televising the entire ordeal, and while Thea isn’t happy about being on camera again, she shows up to support her sister. Upon arrival, she meets Kade, the best man and brother of the groom. He seems just as thrilled to be there and involved as she does, and they forge a friendship of sorts towards getting as little airtime as possible, and developing a wedding romance between them. As the days go on, they find out bits and pieces about their siblings and what truly is going on between them, where Thea is supportive of the marriage while Kade continues to question his brother and why they are getting married. While the beginning of the book dragged on for me, the ending where we find everything out was the best for me, finding out why Thea’s sister chose the groom she did, and why the groom said yes, and I was rooting for Thea and Kade to make it beyond the wedding as well.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Entertaining and emotional
Four and a half stars
Theadora Eloise Pope is the quiet, nerdy, make no waves sister. Kade St James is not any of that. Thea and Kade are conscripted as reluctant participants in their siblings’ weeklong wedding extravaganza, a more over the top and made for public consumption affair than one might imagine. When Thea surprises even herself with a proposal for some retaliatory shenanigans and Kade immediately accepts, they embark on a week that not only includes the agreed upon down and dirty, but also a budding friendship, growing consideration for the other, and the chance to see themselves in a different, and some would argue better, light.
Avery Flynn’s ANGER BANG runs the gamut from quieter introspection to warm humor to the aforementioned heat with ease, and Thea and Kade quickly grabbed my attention and heart. A completely entertaining read!
