Anna’s new life began the moment she caught a glimpse of the flashing red light. “Time is of the essence,” the attorney had said. There was no turning back now. But what was up ahead? Secrets. Mysteries. Love.
When Anna hears the shocking news that she has a great aunt demanding to see her—her only living blood relative—Anna boards a plane and heads to the old woman’s bedside in a Seattle Hospital.
At Great Aunt Adelaide’s insistence, Anna signs a paper, without reading the fine print, that makes her the owner of the Golden Creek Ranch. She takes a leave of absence from her teaching job in Arizona to sort things out, knowing nothing about ranch life or animals.
Dan, the local veterinarian, is helpful but at the same time, hostile—he’d expected to own this property upon Adelaide’s death. Will their love for animals and the dangers they face bring them closer together? Anna’s life, though fascinating, is complicated as her quest to create income begins . . .

Cricket Rohman’s Anna’s Animal House
Anna Darby was a teaching assistant at
Wildwood Elementary School in Glendale,
Arizona. Anna returning home after her
work day discovers the red light on her
answering machine blinking. This message
will change her life forever.
It is an attorney from Seattle, Washington
calling her regarding Anna’s Great Aunt
Adelaide McCorkle. Anna is the last living
relative on Adelaide side. She needs Anna
to fly out and meet her. This first request
is time sensitive as Adelaide is presently
in the hospital.
Adelaide passes but not before bequeathing
her ranch the Golden Creek Ranch to
Come along with Anna as she learns about
running the ranch, caring for animals and
growing vegetables in her garden.
I felt that this is a heartwarming story with
well fleshed out characters.
I found the setting to be vivid, colorful and
described in detail.
The fur babies will warm your heart as they
did mine. At the ranch Anna inherited a huge
dog, Tweed along with two cows Sunshine
and Rain. Her lawyer gifts her a cat, Ollie.
Then a Cooper Hawk, named Hawk gets
hurt and becomes one of Anna’s charges.
Add three chickens, two unidentified bluish
gray birds, a goat, a mini goat, and four
hamsters. Plus there were wild critters stopping
by. Thus the ranch became Anna’s Animal House.
This is book # 4 in the Creative Hearts Sweet
Romance series. It can be read as a stand alone.
