Wonderful End to the Series

Not having read the first two books in the Austin Heroes series, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about coming in at the end of the series with this story. Sometimes it's difficult to try to catch up with the storylines and past characters, but this author did a remarkable job with the backstory and keeping the characters alive through their appearances here.

Luke comes from a family of Alpha males all in law enforcement, all with alarmingly fun senses of humor...there were several laugh out loud moments...what do you do when your marijuana smoking grandmother lights up in front of a drug detection K9 whose partnered with a DEA agent...one of the grandsons...the poor animal was definitely confused.

Luke shows that you can go home again, even after fourteen years away, he came back to a love once lost, but now reawakened. Bella and Luke's quick wit and hilarious banter was enthralling. They definitely were perfect for each other...the author's descriptive writing...especially during the high schools years...clearly brought out the emotion in the love lost between Luke and Bella. There was plenty of angst filled moments of young love, first for Gammy and Paul (the judge) in the 60's during the Summer of Love in San Francisco, the second for Luke and Bella, during their high school years, but tied together through the judge, Bella's father, ran parallel to each other through parental interference, well meaning, though misguided.

There was plenty of suspense because of the terrorist premise of the story, but at the same time there were several heart tearing twists and turns that drove the romantic aspect. The story flowed seamlessly from beginning to end...grabbing your emotions from the first page. The emotional investment created by the characters will stay with me long after I finished the last page. I'm glad I was introduced to the Archer family, even if it was late in the game.

Awesome

Loved this book! I think Luke is my favorite Archer. He works for Homeland Security but still feels the pressure of following in the shadow of his older brothers. With a Texas Ranger and a DEA agent to follow, those are pretty big shadows. Luke is hot on the heels of terrorists getting across our borders through Mexico and he is part of the task force working to shut them down. When he returns to Austin he is reunited with his high school girlfriend, Bella Shaw, since it is her land that is being used for the crossing. The spark between them is still as bright as ever and when the truth about what happened in the past comes to light they know that they need to explore what is between them once again. But how will this affect the investigation and how far will Luke have to go to keep Bella safe??

Definitely a book for the must read list. I highly recommend it.

Another great book

Another great story in the final book of Ms Clark's series titled, Austin Heroes which centered around three brothers.
I have loved the previous stories, and this one did not disappoint me. On the contrary, I was sad to have the series end.
The author creates likable, imperfect characters that you come to love. Add realistic plots, hunky heroes and strong heroines and you know it will be a book you'll enjoy.
In this story we have Bella, a lawyer, and Luke, a Homeland Security Agent . They were HS sweethearts and due to misunderstandings and external intervention, were torn apart. They meet again, 14 years later, when Luke returns to Austin to work on a case in which they need access to Bella's family ranch. Will they be able to overcome previous hurts, and external threats, so they can get a second chance at love? Pick up the book and find out. It will be more than worth your time.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
