Every morning when she awakens, the woman looks for her husband Emil & mourns the death of her daughter. Every morning she can't explain the panic rising in her throat. Then she reads her diary & learns what she has forgotten: Her daughter & husband are dead, & she is alone. But more is going on than she can understand in this harrowing story of revolution, grief, & lost love. (short story)
