A worm with a twisted eating habit, why not?
I was looking for books to download for my little sister on her iPad since we were going on a road trip. I figured it would be better for her to have ebooks instead of games. My little sister is a beginning reader, so I had to find books that would be easy for her to read or follow along and still keep her attention was my goal.
I ran across this book, Apples in Autumn, and I saw some of the pictures and seemed to be pretty cool, but to my amazement, this book is actually quite funny. Its about a worm who love apples, but its the way he eats them that is the surprise. The nice part is that it reads the story to the young reader so they can follow along. I won’t tell you anymore, but this book turned out to be a favorite for my little sister. I would recommend this book if you like twisted tales or stories.
Shockingly graphic but in a good way!
Ok, so I decided to download this iBook for my kid because it was free. As usual, I decided to view it first to see if it is suitable for my child. The funny part is that this book is nothing of what I expected. The use of visually stunning illustrations and the fact that it rides the edge of mild violence kept me captivated and engaged. It is written in a simple sing song kind of rhyme pattern, but beware of the surprises contained within the pictures. I found it to be engaging, fun and when you break it down...its all about apples. My kid loves this iBook. I didnt want to give any good parts away. All I can say is this book is very creative and imaginative, something lacking in may childrens stories today. Hope this helped.
Apples in Autumn
As a primary teacher, I am always looking for engaging texts to utilize in the classroom! We love "Apples in Autumn"! The text uses rhyme to create a story we all enjoy! The read-along version is always nice when kids are ready to listen to new voices! I have used this text to build opinion writing opportunities for kids to pick their favorite way to eat apples!
