These memoirs provide the reader with a vivid insight into a truly fascinating record of service life in an Arab force that was trained and led by a relatively small number of British officers and NCOs.


For twenty years (1951-1971) it successfully maintained law and order in one of the harshest and most inhospitable regions of the world.


As the first President and 'Father of the Nation' Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, graciously conceded, the TOS played a major role in ensuring the peaceful foundation of the United Arab Emirates.
