Nya's worst nightmare has materialized—the Issan have the Ethalian research for creating portals and are working to adapt it to free their god. However, Alric has inspired L'Ni with an idea to create a code to delete all the research. The problem is infecting the Issan computer systems. That can only be done from the inside.

L'Ni has laid out a detailed plan only he fully knows, and the time has come to put it into motion. Nya isn't happy when she discovers too late what that plan entails—he must submit himself to an Inquisitor. Whatever he knows could be exposed, possibly compromising all their work. However, if he doesn't try, the Issan will have all they need to build the ultimate weapon.
