Takes you on a ride
The opening story in this book, a collection of short stories all narrated by the same grim Irish assassin, sets up the reader for a gripping ride through a blood-soaked, Tarantino-esque world where you aren't quite sure what memories are truth. Scanlon's prose grips you and won't let go--it's like you are tied up, held hostage in the trunk of a car, hearing snippets of poetry from a shady character whom you know you can't trust.
