Ashes to Ashes
Though presented as a "series", this is actually one huge book with serious lack of closure/cliff hangers. While I love Ms Bell's writing (fascinating/interesting/engaging characters, plots and magical world, really strong female protagonist) I wish she would just be honest with her intention to lure us into purchases if only to get the rest of the story. (I get she wants the money and the readership, but please...) I probably would have bought them all anyway, but there is an element of trickery that brought her down one star. Otherwise great story, though somewhat relentlessly violent - I had to take breaks just to breathe, but I guess that is. Measure of the power of her writing and ability to engage us in this reality.
