Publisher Description
An interior designer who is never without the perfect plan learns to renovate her love life without one in this new romantic comedy by Ashley Herring Blake, author of Delilah Green Doesn’t Care.
For Astrid Parker, failure is unacceptable. Ever since she broke up with her fiancé a year ago, she’s been focused on her career—her friends might say she’s obsessed, but she knows she’s just driven. When Pru Everwood asks her to be the designer for the Everwood Inn’s renovation, which will be featured on a popular HGTV show, Innside America, Astrid is thrilled. Not only will the project distract her from her failed engagement and help her struggling business, but her perpetually displeased mother might finally give her a nod of approval.
However, Astrid never planned on Jordan Everwood, Pru’s granddaughter and the lead carpenter for the renovation, who despises every modern design decision Astrid makes. Jordan is determined to preserve the history of her family’s inn, particularly as the rest of her life is in shambles. When that determination turns into some light sabotage to ruffle Astrid’s perfect little feathers, the showrunners ask them to play up the tension. But somewhere along the way, their dislike for each other evolves into something quite different, and Astrid must decide what success truly means. Is she going to pursue the life that she’s expected to lead or the one that she wants?
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
This sexy and heartfelt queer rom-com, the second in Blake's Bright Falls series (after Delilah Green Doesn't Care), stars Astrid Parker, a "baby bisexual" interior designer who's at loose ends after splitting from her "golden boy" fiancé. Then she meets the equally lost-in-life Jordan Everwood, a tarot-reading "soft-butch" carpenter whose purportedly haunted family inn in Bright Falls, Ore., Astrid will be remodeling for an HGTV show. The women are initially at odds due to clashing personalities and design sensibilities, but Blake puts a twist on the enemies-to-lovers trope when they realize that they're stronger together and begin secretly collaborating on the redesign without the knowledge of the TV crew. Though some of the secondary cast, including Astrid's mother and Jordan's ex, undergo character changes that happen too abruptly to feel natural, Astrid and Jordan themselves are impressively well-rounded, coming across as simultaneously rude, sarcastic, and short-tempered, and caring, devoted, and kind, rather than going from one extreme to the other. Returning readers will be delighted to revisit Bright Falls and any romance fan will thrill at the sexual and emotional gratification on offer here.
Customer Reviews
Great read
I loved dahlia green, doesn’t care and I was super excited for this one. It was a great book but to me, Astrid in this book is different from the first book and it also seems that their relationship is rushed or forced but overall i liked it but definitely not a love but if your into wlw books you might like it
Disappointed
I could not get all the way through this book. It felt very much like they were trying way too hard. Cheesy but not in a cute fun way. :/
Ashley Herring Blake does it again
I knew Delilah Green Doesn’t Care would be spectacular after the first chapter. Astrid Parker Doesn’t Fail is just as phenomenal after the first page. I love the bond between Astrid and her tribe is thoroughly throughout the book. Along with how Astrid really connects with Jordan. The ups and downs kept me on my seat the entire book. Ten out of ten. Cannot wait to read about Iris!
