George MacDonald (10 Dec 1824 – 18 Sep 1905) was a Scottish author and Christian minister. He was one of the founders of fantasy literature and the mentor of fellow writer Lewis Carroll. His writings have been cited as a major literary influence by many notable authors including C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. MacDonald wrote several works on Christian apologetics and Christian Universalism as well.
