Publisher Description
At the center of Donnelly's thesis are a set of similarities between widely separated cultures. This he interpreted as evidence that all civilization diffused outward from a central point (a now sunken continent in the mid-Atlantic). He cites mythological, linguistic, ethnographic and other evidence for this theory, which at the time seemed to add up to an airtight case.
Customer Reviews
Essential for any researcher studying Atlantis or The Flood
An essential book for anyone interested in myth and history or 12,000 years ago. Also, this e-book is nicely formatted, making the reading experience a joy.
Atlantis: covers topics as catastrophism, the Ice Age, the Flood (also the so-called mud flood). Donnelly is well researched and presents one of the earliest scholarly works on these subjects. Current researchers rarely give Ignatius Donnelly or Immanuel Velikovsky the credit they deserve.
An Overlooked Gem
A true diamond in the rough. The minute musings of a magnificient mind unencumbered by over-skeptic resistance or an arrogant assumption ,oft repeated through history , of all known knowledge being assimilated.
The book of human history and understanding is forever growing with torn pages long lost to collective mind and covered with the decaying disdain of incurious generations. Absence of evidence is , truly, not evidence of absence.
May this jewel continue to sparkle with the unquenchable fire of enquiry and exploration through the sands of time and be someday vindicated long after the bones of its detractors have turned to dust while this diamond remains.
