About the author

Allan Drummond has always had a passion for history and has passed it on to his students during a teaching career of over thirty years in Victoria and New South Wales schools. Still active in the classroom, Allan now puts his writing to work in continuing his mission of teaching young Australians the stories they are entitled to know. Since founding Green Barrow Publishing, Allan has been writing biographies of famous people for young students to considerable acclaim. Before the Aussie Notables series, he has written titles including John Simpson Kirkpatrick, Peter Lalor, Aung San Suu Kyi, Nelson Mandela, John Curtin and Fred Hollows.

About the illustrator

Glenn Lumsden is an award-winning illustrator and cartoonist with over twenty years experience. As well as working on The Phantom comic book series, he has illustrated children's books with top Australian author Paul Jennings. His work has appeared in dozens of magazines including Reader's Digest, Australian Geographic and Rolling Stone, as well as in newspapers including the Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Telegraph and The Financial Review. His advertising work includes illustrations for Allen's Sweets, The Ghan Railway, EMI records and Farmer's Union Milk.
