Awakening is the creative expression of a nave, South African-born Indian who immigrated to the United States. Nishi is a third generation South African who grew up during the apartheid and witnessed the liberation of her country from the grasp of oppression, Awakening is a sampling of the beginnings of a poet. Author Nishi B. Jumna is opening up to creative expression while she explores the impact her Indian heritage has on her life in South Africa and, now, in the United States.
