On their first attempt at intercourse, Yolanda puts into practice the advice given to her by the priest, not to give in to "women's hysteria" because if she does, she will jeopardise Marks soul because of his lustful male nature. Every time mark has sex with his wife he feels like he is raping her because of the vile advice given to Yolanda by the priest and their marriage is threatened. Children are born and the relationship becomes more complicated as other people enter into the environment of their home. Birth control and religion become major issues to resolve. Mark and Yolanda become known as the "go to" couple, when people are in need.
