I thought my life was hell until the devil walked through my door. Sterling isn’t the boy who stole my heart anymore. He’s cunning, manipulative, and dangerous—so why does my body ache for his touch?
I trusted him. I should have known better. He’s broken my heart twice. Now there’s nothing left to break. Because I’m not the girl he fell for or the woman he used. He thought he could play me. He thought he could hurt me. But I’m a survivor, and while I might respond to every stolen kiss, every forbidden moment, there’s one piece of me he’ll never touch. I sold my soul to protect it, and no one can ever learn the truth—not even Sterling Ford.
I never thought I’d find myself begging for Adair’s forgiveness. But she belongs to me. She always has and she always will. No matter how hard she tries to rewrite history.
It’s too late to change who we’ve become. Maybe nothing can save us now. Maybe nothing ever could. I built my fortune with blood, fueled by lies, and soon my past will catch up with both of us. I can’t protect her from the man I’ve become, and no one can save me from the storm that’s coming—not even Adair MacLaine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this story, but, WOWZERS!!! Geneva Lee really ignited the fire between Sterling and Adair in this installment and MANY secrets were unleashed. The depth of this book was awesome and I was deeply involved and invested for the entire story. I am absolutely frothing at the mouth waiting for the next book in the series!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Picking up right where we left off!
Picking up right where we left off! I was so excited to see what happened after the cliffhanger of the first book that I didn’t realize that there is a third book to this series – so be ready for more cliffhangers! This book in the series ultimately revolves around a misunderstanding between Adair and Sterling, while throwing in flashbacks from their past and giving us more insight into what potentially happened between them. Throughout this book, it seems that Sterling’s motives might have changed from the first book to this one, and I’m interested to see how his feelings change in the next installment, but I’m also dying to know what exactly happened to make Adair flee the US and Sterling to drop out and go into the armed forces. I’m really rooting for this couple, but this book didn’t help give me any more context or understanding to the main questions I have. Can’t wait to see how it ends!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Can love conquer all?
Sexy and romantic. Strong characters and a great second round in this series. Can’t wait for book three.
