Publisher Description
How did you get into your line of work? I was born into it. As a child, I spent many days at the original Ambrose Furniture store in Elizabeth City, basically annoying the bookkeeper. When I was old enough to help out, I was put to work delivering furniture. Occasionally I'd get the opportunity to try and help customers, but the business was very different back in the 1960s and '70s and it didn't excite me very much because it wasn't design oriented. My job was simply to sell the sofa we had. If folks came in looking for red and we only had blue, I had to sell them on blue!
