Publisher Description

New Testament scholar Constantine Campbell investigates the function of verbal aspect within the New Testament Greek narrative.

Verbal aspect in the Greek language has been a topic of significant debate in recent scholarship. The majority of scholars now believe that an understanding of verbal aspect is even more important than verb tense (past, present, etc.).

This accessible and affordable textbook has done the job of simplifying the concept without getting caught up using terms of linguistics that no one except those schooled in that field can understand.

Includes exercises, an answer key, glossary of key concepts, an appendix covering space and time, and an index to Scripture cited.

Professors and students, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, can use this is as a supplemental text in both beginning and advanced Greek courses. Pastors that study the Greek text will also appreciate this resource as a supplement to their preaching and teaching.

_____________

"An accessible introduction to the question of aspect and time, comfortably hitting a center position that sees aspect as primary, but time as still important, and yet not oversimplifying the debate. This is an excellent place to start investigating this important issue." —William D. Mounce, author of Basics of Biblical Greek

To the One ,

Aspect and Tense

In glory unto the LORD GOD of Israel, the GOD of knowledge: by GOD'S grace, I first came in contact with the Author from daily dose of Greek on his speaking about Aspect and Tense and I just finished his book.

Remembering that GOD'S thoughts and ways are higher than ours and not having any formal education in this field or any for that matter; I'd like to share some thoughts as a witness to our LORD on His use of me on Aspect ( view point).

Using the AV and with the whole Bible to search, this will be shorter with just mention of references.

Realizing that this subject of Aspect and Tense is still in beginning stages and because creation is under the curse, the we are quite backward in relationship with the LORD and the unified knowledge that He meant to be.

So if we keep our conversation in Heaven and from there seek Him ( Philippians 3:20), and knowing that the LORD is the Author of the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16), simply puts it from His Aspect (view point), that from His Aspect, He has full Aspect ( imperfective and perfective at the same time all the time)!

Hear, O Israel, the LORD our GOD, the LORD is One.(Deuteronomy 6:4) and man was made in His image and likeness ( Genesis 1:26), is not He Who gave us the Bible showing us that Oneness with Himself.

This little list of verses show view points of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, whether in narrative, direct, indirect, as well as using propulsion, the Trinity is being witnessed by the Creator Who gave the Bible as Author and Finisher of our faith using His creation Aspect in the fullest extent of it's existence as His thoughts and ways decree!

Thank GOD and you for your time: it's easier to under our Head's guidance to work up from less, but staying with our Head under His guidance what a joy it is to work with Him in His all in all!
