Bathwater

Virginia Roach is a teen mother living hand to mouth on the isolated island chain of Deep Cannaria, a tropical nation that cut itself off from the world in the midst of a magical war that wounded the sky and poisoned the sea with the fall of a dead godling. But that revolution is thirty years gone, and Virginia isn't one for politics. She wants a stable home. She wants to be a telephone line repairwoman or a witch. And she wants to get a good night's sleep. When she's called to meet her recently-paroled mother outside of the capital reformatory, her simple motorcycle trip is interrupted by misfortunes, misadventures, Bewilderness monsters, abyssal mobsters, and a freak hurricane that wails like a terrified baby.
