A TRUE STORY BY THE SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR MAGGIE HARTLEY
When six-week-old Jasmine is placed in her care, foster mother Maggie Hartley is delighted to have a baby in the house again. Maggie's been given temporary custody of Jasmine after social services were concerned that the baby was failing to thrive and develop.
With Maggie's love and care, Jasmine soon flourishes into a healthy, happy baby - but it is clear that all is not quite as it seems with her mum, Hailey. Timid, pale and withdrawn, Hailey looks as though she is carrying the weight of the world onher shoulders. Maggie fears she may be suffering from postnatal depression until late one night she discovers Hailey on her doorstep, her body battered and broken, her spirit crushed.
Hailey admits that her husband has been abusing her for years, but this revelation places Maggie in an awful situation: there's no way Hailey can regain custody of Jasmine until her husband is off the scene. But after years of physical and emotional abuse, can Hailey find the strength to leave him?
An uplifting and ultimately redemptive story by Sunday Times bestselling foster carer Maggie Hartley. Perfect for fans of Cathy Glass, Casey Watson, Angela Hart and Rosie Lewis.
Battered, broken, healed
This book waS really a good read. I had a hard time putting it down. Its so sad what some of the foster kids go thru, and sometime a parent like Hailey. Maggie must be a ver strong woman to love and help fix the kids then have to let them go.I know how hard it is I was a foster parent 10 yrs had a little girl for 4 yrs and then she was adopted.i couldn't make myself do it again. It takes a special woman like Maggie.ty Maggie you did a great job.looking forward to another.
Another great book
Ms Hartley has written another good story about her experience as a foster parent. She is honest and caring with her description of her experiences. I really enjoy all of her books.
Battered, Broken, Healed By: Maggie Hartley
This is the first time I’ve read a book by Maggie Hartley. I was drawn to the book because the review made it very similar to the books by Cathy Glass and I’ve read quite a few books by Cathy Glass. Maggie Hartley books are about the cases she has encountered as a Foster Care Giver. She writes about how the children come to be in her care and how much they change when they are placed in a loving and nurturing environment. The books are written with so much love…you know she puts her heart and soul into it. I started this book last night and I finished it about an hour ago. If you are looking for a book that pulls at your heart strings…this is it!!! This is a well written book and I highly recommend it.
