In the second half of 2 Corinthians 5 Paul gives a brief summary of his ministry, an encapsulation of the important truths of which he was God’s steward. The statements he makes there, concerning the meaning and scope of the work of Christ, have significant implications for the substance and content of evangelism today.
Is it also possible that in the second half of 2 Corinthians 5 the Apostle Paul is writing in a highly personal manner? In other words, this passage is possibly intensely autobiographical. Paul may have been describing the transformation in his own thinking and understanding of the role and character of Messiah which, before his conversion, would have been typical of a well-educated and devoted Pharisee of his day, but which was very different from Jesus of Nazareth.
