Carrick and Audra are an older couple. Carrick has had a fated mate who turned on his family. Audra has never had a consort, but they are parents and grandparents. They've lived life and seen their children find their own fated mates/consorts. When they find themselves feeling a very strong pull to each other, despite not being fated they can't ignore how drawn they are to each other.
I love fated mate books but what's even better is when two people want each other despite not being fated to each other. To me that shows they chose that person despite the odds being against them. To me, it makes their love story that much sweeter.
If you're not familiar with this author, you can look forward to complete devotion in her main characters. A possessive hero, independent heroines, great side characters and a fun storyline. I've enjoyed seeing Carrick finally find the love that he deserves. That love being Audra just makes their family that much stronger. ARC provided by Author.
