Book 2 in the Hard Rock Harlots Series

WARNING: BEATS is specially formulated for horn dogs, porn oglers, smut peddlers, BDSM junkies, M/M and M/M/F addicts, DP dabblers, body modification connoisseurs, and lovers of A2M backdoor sexy times. If you don’t fall into these categories, can’t stomach hot man-on-man action, or if you have no idea what the above acronyms mean, please back away from BEATS now. This isn’t the book you’re looking for. Failure to heed this warning could inadvertently throw unauthorized users into a persistent vegetative state, or at the very least, require administration of a defibrillator to the chest and/or groin area. Nobody wants that.

For months, shy drummer Jinx Hardwick has been silently crushing on her tall, dark, and scary bandmate, Toombs Badcock. Drawn to his frightening ink and scars, she yearns to uncover the shadowy secrets lurking behind his silver eyes, but Jinx is too intimidated to even look at him, let alone talk to him. When she stumbles upon Toombs and their manipulative lead guitarist Rax in a compromising position, Jinx realizes her chances of winning Toombs’s heart aren’t just a long shot—they’re nonexistent. To make matters worse, Jinx’s family needs her at home. She’s about to back away from it all—Toombs, the band, her dreams of fame and fortune—when Rax makes her an offer she can’t refuse: a no-holds-barred night alone with Toombs. There’s one small catch. She has to go through Rax to get it.

Crazy, Dirty Romance

Beats is good, off the charts sexy and I can't begin to fathom how Kendall Gray walks around with that crap in her head. These sex scenes were CRAY-Z and I loved every filthy, dirty line!! While I missed Letty and her smart-mouth and quick comebacks. Jinx was a kitten compared to Letty, although I still enjoyed her story.

Jinx is a good catholic girl on the outside and a bit of a sexual wildcat on the inside. She keeps that sexual prowess hidden well until Letty steps in. We all know that Jinx admired the strange Toombs in Strings and now in Beats she wants to take that a bit further. Letty decides to introduce her "twelve steps to getting Toombs" to Jinx. The only problem is Toombs and Rax are a package deal. Speaking of package, I will admit to some internet research (pictures included) on what Toombs had going on. WOW! My hubby said although he loves me, probably not that much. Bummer.

This is as twisted as a threesome can get (that I have read anyway). Jinx, Rax and Toombs try to navigate the murky waters of love and lust, while trying to keep their feelings for each other intact. Easier said than done. Hearts are broken, friendships may not survive and oh yeah, these three are still in a band together. What a mess.

I enjoyed Beats, maybe just a smidgen less than Strings however. Kendall Gray is quite the wordsmith in this series, the things she comes up with kill me. It's another well written, filthy dirty romance.

Love-A-Latte ,

Read this book, love it, share it. It rocks.

I'm posting this review on all three books in this series. I love the series overall and, since I don't like to give away too much in a review, just a couple of changes will be noticeable, depending on the book.

Be aware that they contain very graphic language and sex, and some sexual activities that you may not consider acceptable, however, since you're not doing them, it's all good, right?

The series starts with Strings, the story of Letty and Shades. Then there's beats, the story of Toombs and Jinx and Rax. Just out is Nocturnes, wherein Rax's story continues. All three books are fun and entertaining, sexy and downright dirty, and very well written. Kendall Grey has a voice and she uses it to tell some great stories.

The premise here is that Cherry Buzz Float, Letty's band, is set to go on tour opening for a bigger band. Things happen and the two become one band, minus a few people. The hookups begin and relationships are forged and the music plays on and on and on. What happens is magic, the music is more than just the sum of its parts, and the band is on its way. The members? They're on their way, too.

This is, for my money, the best book in the series. Rax and Lola/Eve have to fight to be together. They have to re-examine their dreams adn desires, and they have to let go of their public personas to expose to one another the beating hearts within. Rax's fight in particular is a relateable one and it's not all hearts and rainbows.

Toombs and Jinx present a really compelling story; is the devil you know (or the Rax, in this case) easier to face than the unknown? And is that devil really the devil or is he someone just like you, insecure and afraid and presenting a front? Can you let go of what's working for you to get what you're pretty sure you really want? What if you're different? Can you open up to someone and let them see the ugly and the weird inside you and not lose them? Can they adapt? All of this enters into the story of Jinx and Toombs, and it's well worth the trip to find out what happens.

As always, I don't want to give away anything, and it's hard to review a book without giving away any spoilers, but I'm trying here. All I can tell you is that the members of Killer Buzz Float are just looking for love and acceptance, like the rest of us. And they may or may not find it with each other. You'll have to read and find out.

Some things I really liked about this book:

The girl rockers are just as horny and slutty as the boy rockers, and they make not one apology for it. Grey has given us women who own their sexuality, aren't afraid to experiment, and who dare anyone to slut shame them for their behavior. I love these girls and I'm happy that Grey gave us characters who don't succumb to society's double-standard mores.

There's kink! Kinky sex is fast becoming common in the bedrooms of America and, while there are things in these books some people might never find, there's also some fantasy fodder here. Good to have a dirty book with some real dirt in it!

These books are just fun and Grey isn't trying to make them provide the answers to the world's problems. It's so much fun reading these, that I WANT a Killer Buzz Float T-shirt. I want to wear the shirt and listen to the CD and go to the concerts and meet these people. And I can't. Because they're not real. Well, the T-shirts are, but they were on sale for a limited time and I missed it, so ... wah. I'll get over it.

The band members in these books are family. Even when they fight, they've got each other's backs. When things are hard, they may try to pull apart, but they always come back together. In an organic way. The best example of this is in book 3, Nocturnes, but you've got to read the first two stories before you get to that one. Trust me, it's better that way.

If you can suspend your need for Deep Thoughts, and if you can put your grandmother's morality in that junk drawer you've got in the kitchen, you're really going to love these books. You might need a fire extinguisher handy when you need the sex scenes, though; there's one in the first book that nearly made my Kindle combust.

If filthy mouths, strippers, prostitutes, three-ways, bisexuality, and hard-living bad boys and girls living it up like rock stars do are not your thing? Don't bother.
