Rebecca Winters, now Beck, has grown comfortable with her life, being owned by the twins, Trisha and Thomas. She has learned who and what they are and what their mission is… everything she learns tightens their growing bonds.
She and June, her lover, have developed a strong relationship… a rather complicated relationship… growing closer than either had imagined possible.
Beck's mother, with Aurora, and Mark form their own relationship, and between them have a baby… a baby whose conception is directly influenced by the twins.
As Beck learns more of the twins and their mission, the scope of it, she finds they have something less than a plan for achieving their goals. She decides to help them by creating something more of a plan. She has come to love them, knowing they must succeed. Though the world doesn't know it, the future of mankind may depend upon them. Those who sent the twins on this mission are relying on Beck to help.
Time moves along. Alma is born, Beck's half-sister, and the twins obsess over the little girl, spending most of their time standing with Beck observing the baby… even though babies do little but eat and sleep. Alma grows, the twins delighting in every step of development, though often growing impatient at the day by day pace of it all.
Yet, life is not as perfect as it could be. Warren Dunn, the man running the agency protecting and caring for the twins, makes an appointment with Beck. His visit is nothing of pleasure, as he was exploring interest in the twins from several quarters.
It is time for the twins to vanish from this neighborhood, to find another life where they wouldn't be known. This meant Beck would need to move… Beck's life would be turning upside down.
And then there was June…
