1. Taxation ? Right of redemption, when must be exercised. A delinquent taxpayer must exercise his right of redemption before the tax deed is taken to the property, and if not exercised in the manner and within the time provided by the statute the right becomes lost. 2. Taxation ? Words &; Phrases ? "Redemption." The purchase of tax acquired property from the county by the former owner is not a "redemption." 3. Taxation ? Preferential right of purchase must be exercised as provided by statute. The preferential right of a delinquent taxpayer to purchase the property from the county after the expiration of the right of redemption for only the amount of the taxes, penalties and interest due is purely statutory and, if claimed, must be exercised in the manner and within the time provided by statute or the right becomes lost. 4. Taxation ? Taxpayer lost preferential right of purchase in case at bar. The taxpayer, by failing to exercise its preferential right to purchase property from the county for the amount of the taxes, penalties and interest due before the time fixed by the Board of County Commissioners for the sale for the property, lost its preferential right to purchase the property at the favorable figure provided by the statute. 5. Courts. Statements by Supreme Court which are not essential to opinion being rendered are not binding as a precedent.
