Publisher Description

This story is about Beatrice's endeavour to save the bees from extinction. She does this by suggesting that people use a bee whisperer to remove swarms from their gardens and not resort to exterminators that use poison to kill the bees. But as she is abrasive in her approach, she often rubs people up the wrong way. This causes problems and she gets called an old bag, a bunny hugger, or worse. She doesn't actually mind the names though, as long as she gets the message across.
Then one day when she meets Colonel Harry and confronts him about the bee killers he is about to employ to remove a swarm from his garden, her attitude begins to soften -a little, not that she'd ever admit to this.
She tells Harry about her friend George, a bee whisperer, who uses only smoke and persuasion to calm the bees and then remove them to a more suitable location. Harry is amused by her forcefulness, so he indulges her by telling the pest control men to leave.
Later, when George comes to whisper to the bees, he turns out to be a small, competent man that knows exactly what he is doing. He approaches the bees confidently, wearing the minimum of protective clothing and quietly goes about calming the bees and then producing blossoms from a fruit tree orchard that he mentally communicates to the bees that he wants to take them to.
Harry is surprised how easily he gets the bees to cooperate, but not Beatrice, who is George's apprentice bee whisperer. She tells Harry that she hopes to soon be able to do exactly as George has just done, as it is important to save the bees, as without them, there would be no fruit or vegetables to eat.
Harry is impressed, and the two of them soon become friends, even though they enjoy baiting each other and having regular verbal tussles, during which time he calls her an old busy-body and she calls him a silly old man. Then on morning all this changes, -when Harry appears on her doorstep carrying a bunch of daffodils and wearing a sloppy grin on his face.
Beatrice looks out of the window and immediately feels suspicious, but what do you imagine happens after this? -Download and enjoy!
