Residents of Middleton Village, Massachusetts believed their town was under an ancient curse. Witches were rumored to live in the shadows while werewolves hunted in the woods. No one could move in and no one could move out witout deadly consequences. But legends of witches and werewolves aside, any unsuspecting teenage boy who dared venture into the old public library really, truly, adn honestly vanished.

That is, until Jessica Mason's mother transferred in from the California branch of Deacon Enterprises to the main office in Middleton Village. Too eager to get away after a nasty divorce with her magician-by-trade and con-artist husband, they were unaware of what they were stepping into. Besides, what does a pari of big-city skeptics know about curses?
