Publisher Description
Bernard van Orley is one of the leading artists of the Flemish Renaissance. Characteristic of his work, which consists of painting, tapestry and stained glass, was the strong influence of the Italian Renaissance masters. This, along with several other great Flemish masters, makes him one of the pioneers of the Romantic Movement in Flemish art.
Art historians have so far argued that this artist has visited Italy and experienced the influence of Italian Renaissance art directly there. Whether this is the case or not, Rafaello's influence on his style of painting - certainly from the color range to the composition and the treatment of light and shadow, is undoubtedly very strong.
